Whew, I’m not alone in the attack of the fat face! Can you say “edema?” Actually mine is a total body attack.🥺 10 lbs of water weight so far and I’m only 1/3 of the way through my 6-month chemo regime. Spent 6 hours in the ER yesterday trying to track down the source of this bloating and resulting spike in my blood pressure, especially since I am now a high risk for pulmonary embolisms. My usual 110/70 shot all the way up to 193/98.😫 The on-call doctor ordered me to the emergency room… again. Dang. Had to forego a last fun meal with our visiting son and daughter-in-law as they flew back to Minnesota. The good news is the ER ruled out heart problems, and scanned my head, neck and chest for possible blood clots, finding nothing! Yay! But the culprit for this water retention still remains at large. I meet with my oncologist today to sort this out and decide if I am stable enough for tomorrow’s large infusion. The slightest physical exertion triggers huffing and puffing as my heart rate shoots through the roof. SO NOT ME! God, I am feeling pretty beat up right now. NOTHING is in my control. All my go-to coping mechanisms are stripped away. Hmmm… actually that is an un-truth. I can still crawl up in Your arms and talk with You Lord. The best consolation anyway. So be patient with my pity party as I lament my fat face, and water-ballooned body. “This too shall pass.” And a grandchild is on the way! Think on these things Lynette.
