Having coffee with senior friends yesterday, we began comparing notes on the strange goings on in this new generation. Sooo many things to celebrate that we never thought twice about. Like expensive photo shoots for engagement pictures, elaborate bachelor or bachelorette parties, videoed honeymoons, gender-reveal extravaganzas, big-belly pregnancy photo ops, and “baby moon” getaways! Heck, we were lucky to spring for a few pictures shot at our weddings! Sooo, we seniors decided it was OUR TURN to create OUR benchmarks to memorialize! How ‘bout our first colonoscopy? Or dental implants? Or AARP membership? Or moving into Medicare coverage? Our first walker? Wheelchair? Hospital bed? WOW! The possibilities are endless! Why should chronicling these rites of passage be limited to the young? Who knows when a colonoscopy video might go viral and we could become a social media “influencer!” Hmmm… God, I guess if I want to truly “influence” the following generations, I’d prefer it come from my mouth and heart, not my derrière!
