Reflections 10/23/2020: Last year when I was being bombarded with lies from a person in my life, posing as a supportive friend, I had to keep revisiting Your truths, Jesus, to sort my way through them. Especially lies defaming my loved ones. “What?! She said that? That’s not fair! How dare her!” This person knew EXACTLY where to poke to get the desired reaction from me… genius in his/her assessment of my vulnerability and brutal in his/her lying thrusts! I had to keep returning to MY OWN KNOWLEDGE of my loved ones to counteract these insidious lies. “Well that sure doesn’t sound like the person I know! I will check it out before I take your word for it!” Put the kibosh on his/her ‘string-yanking’ strategies! How similar is that to how we must counteract Satan’s manipulating lies about You God! Rely on our intimate knowledge of You to ferret out the falsehoods! Eve fell for the serpent’s undermining smear on Your goodness Lord, when he convinced her that You were holding out on giving them the best of the Garden of Eden… the fruit that would enable them to become like gods themselves. Rather than remembering all her “walks in the cool of the garden” with You Lord, and clinging to her personal experience of Your character, she allowed Satan’s lies to inform her thinking. “God ISN’T out for my best!” How important it is to for me to take those walks daily with You God, and read and reread Your “Love Letter” to refresh my first-hand experience of Your love and goodness toward me! “Take a hike Satan! That doesn’t sound like the God I know!”
