Reflections 8/23/2020: Our Dahlia plant we started from a bulb is finally coming to fruition. Its first blossom erupted deep in the foliage and was completely covered by leaves, then other burgeoning blossoms. It was so beautiful with its white-tinged tips and vibrant yellow petals that I felt sad that no one could enjoy its artistic expression of life. So I decided to snip it off and give it a place of prominence in our kitchen. And it is blooming in its newly planted spot! Got me thinking about times in my life where my “bloom” was on target, but the “spot” wasn’t a good fit. And the same with others I have watched blocked in their exercising of their gifts. That “snipping” of removal and transfer is often scary… and even painful, but the end result is more freedom to express those God-given gifts! So little Dahlia bloom, I was sorry to clip you off from your safe, hidden place in the plant, but it was keeping you from full expression of yourself! Now many can delight in your golden, white-tinged beauty!
