Reflections 9/13/2020: I’ve been reading Mark’s gospel and I feel like I’m watching an hour episode of “24.” Action packed with screaming demoniacs, crazed pigs, terrorized cities, banished boat escapes, and bleeding women, culminating in the grave robbery of a little girl! Yikes! (Jack Bauer’s got nothing on You Jesus!) What intrigued me the most though was Your personal touch in all of these encounters. It wasn’t enough to just heal the hurting, but You went the extra mile to make a personal connection with each of them! The hemorrhaging woman expected a harsh reprimand for stealing a healing touch of Your hem, but You took time to touch her heart as well! “Daughter, your faith has made you well! Go in peace!” The dead girl brought back to life? Taking her by the hand, whispered, “Little girl, get up!” And the demoniac? Braved his violence and vehement protests to free him from “Legion’s” horrendous clutches! Gave him back a life of sanity… and some new clothes! I have experienced Your personal touch through these months of battling cancer, so I know firsthand how these recipients of Your healing must have felt. Valued. Cherished. Protected. Comforted. Hopeful!
