Reflections 02/02/2020!: Well, if I have to be an inmate in the hospital for another few days, this is the mate you want to do time with! Makes me laugh! Makes the nurses laugh! In Ed’s typical intrusive, presumptuous style he all has but secured his own chair in the nurses’ station! Raids their closets at will, helps himself to their coffee station… and gets away with it! (What is his stinkin’ secret?) Last night as the day nurse checked out, she came in to hang with us for a while before leaving after her long 12 hour shift! The goodbye was punctuated with a giant hug, and I could swear I saw tears glistening in her eyes. From laughter, or deep connection? Not sure. But it does make this hospital stay more fun. Yesterday’s saga was a decision not to deal with the gall bladder at this time while they waited for the cultures to grow from the fluids they drained so they could identify what was the source of THAT problem. Just as I was going to be given my walking papers, the doctor rushes in and tells me the lab report came back with too many markers of infection in the 6.6 lbs of fluids they drained from my body. I needed to stay in the hospital for IV antibiotics for a few more days or risk becoming septic.😬 Parole delayed! Ahhhhh!!!!! I guess if I have to wait for the final results while I am still in pain from whatever body-snatcher is harassing me, I might as well be in good hands. Nurses are the best! Especially when your husband gets you first-class attention with his quirky charms!
