Reflections 1/10/21: I’ve always hated this saying, “You’ll never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul trailer,” to emphasize how little our earthly treasures matter in the light of eternity. True, but just creeps me out! AND, if I’m honest, it forces me to evaluate where I am putting my energies in this life. Been thinking about this a lot lately in light of my cancer markers rising (pet scan results in but indecipherable until I talk with the doc). So today’s devotional is very timely. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt.6:20–21) So how do we invest in Heaven? Sarah Young goes on to say, “EVERY TIME YOU AFFIRM YOUR TRUST IN ME, you put a coin into My treasury. Thus you build up equity in preparation for days of trouble. I keep safely in My Heart all trust invested in Me, with interest compounded continuously.” WOWZERS!! I can do that! My puny moments of trust matter! And compound with interest! At this rate I might be a wealthy woman in Heaven!! More golden crowns to cast at Jesus’ feet! So my pack rat propensities here on earth are being challenged. Purging time! Starting with my clothes closet! (Just hope Ed doesn’t read this and try to capitalize on this momentary impulse! That pile of peacock feathers just might come in handy someday!)
