Reflections 3/20/2020: I’ve always LOVED the beginning of this verse, but shuttered at the harsh, abruptness of the last part! Enemies? DESTROY THEM! Not befriend or reconcile with them… but ANNIHILATE! As I read it anew this morning, battling cancer within, and the threat of the Coronavirus without, I found myself equally embracing the latter part of Moses’ declaration. “Drive these bastards out!!!” I’ve done a little research on the omentum in our bodies, a fatty lining over our abdominal organs that is supposed to aid in our immune system. That is where the cancer cells in my body are basecamping and trying to multiply. Turns out the immunity function in the omentum doesn’t recognize cancer cells as the enemy! In fact it creates an environment that is like jet fuel to the cancer’s ability to grow. “Dang! Get a clue you worthless, fatty sheath! You are harboring and abetting the enemy!” I meet with the surgeon next Tuesday to set a date for removing this mutinous mass and a full hysterectomy. Given the chaos at hospitals right now, they are pushing off all non-emergency surgeries, so I am a little concerned about that traitorous omentum staying put in my body for even more time! So rallying my prayer warriors for battle is my bugle cry! SURGICAL DESTRUCTION! The sooner the better in my wartime play book! BUT the surgeon will know best, so pray for wisdom and surgical room openings ASAP! In the meantime I will be 🎶 “Leaning on the everlasting arms!” 🎶
