Reflections 7/3/2020: Yesterday Ed and I released a hundred Lady Bugs into our garden! They looked like a red VW Bug convention filmed as the Keystone Cops bustling about! Action everywhere as they discovered a world widely larger than their cardboard cup! I could almost hear them exclaiming,”Hey fellow Hippodamia Convergens, there’s a big, beautiful world out there!” Here was our motivation: “A ladybug is a good sign in a garden because it can mean fewer problems from pests, particularly the dreaded aphids. Aphids feed on plant tissues and can also transmit viruses to plants, but an adult ladybug may consume hundreds of aphids a day and thousands in its lifetime — they literally gorge on aphids!” Yesterday, in response to my 80% chance of the return of cancer Reflection, you all were Lady Bugs in my garden! “Gorging” on the aphids of doubt and discouragement! The virus of depression had no chance to set in as the Lady Bugs of your shared experiences of God’s miraculous healings (and reminders of His promises in His Word) gobbled up my attacking aphids! Keystone Cop blue line response! I will return to your words as often as I find an aphid of discouragement trying to infect me with hopelessness. It truly does “take a village” to do life to its fullest, but in this case garden gobbling Lady Bugs!
