Reflections 7/9/2020: This picture of a typical scene in mass transit forced me to revisit my theme for this year. ATTENTIVENESS. Awareness. Thoughtfulness. Selflessness. I’d like to think these young people would have jumped up to give this aged lady their seat if they’d at least been paying ATTENTION… but maybe not. Self-absorption has become the mantra of our changing world. Oh, outraged protests for injustice are on the docket, but eyes to see the bleeding needs smack-dab around us in everyday interactions just don’t matter. Lord, keep my eyes open, and my heart ATTENTIVE to those around me… may I see their outward needs and respond with action… and sense their inward cries for connection that call me to be a conduit of Your compassionate love.
