Reflections 7/24/2020: Ed and I just noticed a few hawks in the area that suddenly have found our home fascinating. Seemed kinda cool until we realized WHAT was fascinating them. ROO! A big 7 lbs. Food. Their next meal! Lots of circling in the sky to survey their plan of attack. One even had the audacity to fly under and through our pergola while we,(puppy included), were relaxed there, feeling perfectly safe! Dang! Just as we are trying to give Roo some space to explore his independence in the confines of our yard, this airborne predator has to threaten that freedom! It helps that the crows and magpies often alert us to the presence of a hawk by swarming it with their outraged bodies and squawking protests. But can’t just rely on them for protection. Guess I will have to be a hover-mother for the next few weeks until Roo becomes less prey-potential. Makes me wonder if You feel this way about us, God, when Satan is circling our lives with devouring intentions. Perhaps Your hovering protection is Your indwelling Spirit Who squawks warnings to us if we choose to listen.
