Reflections 6/23/2020: God, drill this truth into my brain!!! My competitive spirit way too often turns a discussion into an argument! Dang! How I want to love and respect the other person as we converse, but I often lose that in my determination to make my point! You installed fast-twitch muscles in my body, which have been a gift in athletic pursuits… but unfortunately they are a detriment in my knee-jerk, reactive mouth! Forgive me for my short-sightedness Lord… and for valuing my viewpoint more than their value as a person. That flies in the face of Your call to love others as You have loved me. That call supersedes my petty need to flaunt my ego. Sorry.😕Please install an alarm system, like a carbon monoxide detector to warn me when my inner attitude is starting to stink up the joint, so I can do something about it BEFORE it becomes poisonous! James was right! “But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.” And they don’t have to be if I listen for the alarm of Your Holy Spirit reminding me of what matters most when it comes to my mutinous mouth!
