Reflections 6/7/2020: Well the tropical breezes I sooo enjoyed yesterday morning turned violent by late afternoon! Took down trees, launched trampolines into the air like Dorothy’s farmhouse, and shocked our cloistered community with a windstorm of hurricane proportions! YIKES!! Nature is so unpredictable! What’s delightful one minute can turn devastating the next! We humans think we call all the shots… but these storms are a sobering reminder that we are just inhabitants of a wild, unrestrainable planet! Sooo much is beyond our control. Viruses that shut down the entire world. Weather patterns that wreck havoc. Even racial prejudices that we WANT to make right, but feel powerless to do so. Could render us immobile in our sense of helplessness. But God, I refuse to go there! Trees can be cleaned up. Viruses vaccinated. And at least in my tiny sphere of influence, I can allow Your love to purge me of my petty prejudices and treat ALL people as Your treasured creation! May the song I sang in Sunday School ring true in my adult life. 🎶 “Red and yellow, black and white. They are precious on Your sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world!” 🎶
