Reflections 6/9/2020: Just as I was celebrating the beauty of this glorious hibiscus plant in full bloom, a deer snuck in and butchered it! Must have eaten every bloom and at least 20 buds that will never have a chance to see the light of day. Ratso!!! Looks like my cancer-ridden skull in its butchered glory! Luxurious locks eaten away by destructive chemo. Double Ratso! BUT, the hopeful part of this drama/trauma is that the roots are still dug down deep, pulling up life for starting over. New buds and blossoms are still possible! It will take a while to recover from the onslaught, but it WILL happen! Reminds me of a verse in Colossians: “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Love that!! Deep roots, blossoming fruit! Of overflowing thankfulness no less! Sooo God, help me not be ashamed of my ravaged state of being right now. It isn’t a death warrant, but rather a pruning setback for future abundant blossoming!
