Reflections 10/7/2020: Roo is driving me nuts! I am trying to get him to fall in love with trails as opposed to paved walkways, and he is being obstinate! He prefers the predictability of his usual tame promenade to my desire for a bit more adventure! Sooo, the first stretch of trail is a constant stopping and looking back longingly at home and his hood. I have to give his leash a (gentle) yank to reorient him to my plan for our outing. “Come on Roo… give it a go… you’ll love it once you try it!” Eventually he gives up his resistance and goes with my flow… discovering whole new scents to sniff, bushes to explore, frontiers to forge, and rocks on which to leave his mark! As I laugh at his newfound delight, I am surprised to recognize myself! Reluctant to try the new trails You are calling me to, God! Pavement is so much safer! Gazing back longingly at the familiar. Choppy stops-and-goes as I try to muster up courage… and trust… that You have my best in mind. Sooo bring Roo’s unwarranted resistance to my brain when I want to turn back to the familiar instead of facing the new frontiers You have set before me! Enhance my sense of smell so I can sniff out the new, exhilarating experiences You have in store for me… and leave my dis-stink-tive mark! (HaHa!)
