Reflections 9/21/2020: Yesterday we drove up to a friend’s haven in the mountains to celebrate a decade changing birthday, and got an eyeful of changing color in the journey! There is “gold in them hills!” Don’t even have to dig for it! BUT you DO have to tolerate a ridiculous amount of traffic! Talk about a modern day Gold Rush! Out in the middle of nowhere it is a literal parking lot! Might as well be in downtown Denver during rush hour! Makes me sad. Sad because the Colorado mountains have gotten as crowded as the Southern California beaches, from which we fled 30 years ago. Especially during this COVID pandemic where outdoors seems a safer bet than indoor recreation. Bumper to bumper travel is a true bummer. But in a more philosophical way it makes me glad. Glad that sooo many people feel drawn to the incredible beauty You have created God! Your Autumn art show! Applauding the Artist whether they realize it or not! Since that blesses Your heart, I want it to bless mine too. And see all the other people encased in their metal cars, not as impersonal competitors for space on the roads, but fellow aficionados of Your golden glory! That paradigm shift in perspective could make all the difference! Inconvenient? Yes. But obnoxious? No! Widespread worship!
