Reflections 11/1/2020: I am really fearful of how the results of this election are going to trigger whichever is the losing party! Especially if it ends up being a neck-and-neck finish. If we value our (representative) democracy, we ALL need to accept whatever that outcome is… regardless of what we fear the next 4 years might look like. We are the model (for good or bad) to the onlooking world for whether a democratically determined government can even work at all. If we can’t make it work peacefully, why should any other country give it a try? Get behind whoever is elected. We saw firsthand the damage done when our last elected President was boycotted and marched against before he even had a chance to enter the Office. And a full 4 years of trying to undo that vote. No President, Democratic or Republican, should be forced to swim against the current so radically! So if you or I am on the losing side, we need to value the democratic process enough to give the winner a chance to implement his or her policies… with all the checks and balances our Constitution has put in place to make this democratic experiment a success to a watching world. Namaste. Blessed are the peacemakers.
