As I am trying to process why this next generation seems to care so little for Your written Word, (or are even ashamed of it), it is making me evaluate how You have used it so mightily in my own life. I think this Toby Mac quote captures the essence of it. The Bible has been the most influential source for helping me come to know You, the Author… not just of the Book, but of my life. Genesis introduces me to your magnificent Creatorship, and desire to reveal Yourself to the entire world through a hand-picked nation. Exodus chronicles Your active rescue of us in the slavery of sin and pain… moral laws to govern us and blood sacrifice to wash away our disobedience to those laws. Psalms teaches me how to worship You in both the ups and downs of life. Isaiah seduces me into further into Your Presence with metaphors that enlarge my grasp of Your incredible love for me. All the history books of the judges, kings and prophets round out the reality that You are essence of Truth and Justice as well as Love and Grace… and must be respected as a Judge as well as our loving Father! And I haven’t even gotten to the New Testament yet. I guess that could be summed up in “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of Grace and Truth.” Your Word come alive! Perfectly embodied in the human skin of Jesus. A huge data dump of information about You, the Author! And culminating in the final blood sacrifice to eradicate sin’s presence and power in our lives once for all! Slap all that over 50 years of intimate personal experience of testing these Word-revealed THEO-logical revelations and something vitally substantial has emerged. FAITH. TRUST. Deep LOVE for You.  Would any of this have formed without Your Word? I doubt it. Maybe a gushy warm feeling about You as I appreciate nature’s beauty… but depth and breadth? Don’t think so. How I LONG to infuse a passion for Your Word to this next generation! How can they truly know You and fall in love with You without it?
