This gate somehow reminds me of my mom. Hmmm… why is that? I think it is because her favorite hymn was “In the Garden.”
“I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am his own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.”
Makes me cry to picture her getting up before the crack of dawn to have time alone with You Jesus before we 6 kids hit her full force with all our demands. The peace I saw on her face as I peeked into her Garden “walks and talks” with You gave me a assurance that life was good. And made me curious enough to want to know what she was experiencing in that Garden-time with You that I found how to enter through that angelic gate as well. And here I am 50+ years later entranced by the honeysuckle enveloping me with the scent of Heaven! Intoxicating! Intriguing! Invigorating! The only line of that song I disagree with is the claim that “none other has ever known.” How thankful I am that “any and all” can meet You in this sweet, sweet Garden!
