My devotions took me to Jeremiah 31 today. Such a powerful chapter of HOPE and RESTORATION after a long stretch of pain and suffering… both of which were brought on by bad choices to stray away from You God. A highway moving away from Heaven to the hells of our own making. I think I’ve been meandering a bit down that road lately… allowing my human default mode of laziness to tangent me off of my beeline to Your heart, God. Getting sloppy in “attending” church, even on line. Preferring Facebook surfing over soaking in Your Word. Making my connection times with You more of a quick jaunt through a fast food restaurant than a sit-down feast to truly talk. And I’m feeling the results! A sucking dry of my passion for You… an exile march toward the distractions and subtle deadness of Babylon. Soooo, I’m “setting up road signs” and GPSing my highway slide so I can find my way back to the joys of closeness with You. Jeremiah 31 goes on to promise the New Covenant of a complete “heart” transplant that will alert us when we get pulled off course, and that is what is beeping a warning in my heart right now. “Warning, return to the route!” So cranking a U-turn as we speak! Thanks for keeping on loving me when I am so fickle in returning it!
