Reflections 10/28/2020: Do our daily decisions get any weirder than this? “Sign up to be tracked throughout your day by someone,” (not sure who?), “who evaluates your every move to determine your exposure to COVID carriers.” Yikes! Is that possible? Or better yet desirable? Hmmm… don’t know. I’d like to be helpful in this battle to contain COVID, but this feels a little too invasive to me. Like George Orwell’s “1984” or Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.” Even a simple trip to the grocery store can turn into a real life video game where danger lurks around every corner! Get a warning and everyone around you becomes suspect! And you become equally the enemy to everyone else who is receiving this signal at the same time! Talk about divisive! God, You do use a similar system to alert us to those around us… but for good. Your Spirit often whispers to me when someone is quietly suffering alone in their pain. If I am sensitive enough to receive that message, brave enough to violate social norms to check it out with them, and willing to lend a listening ear, healing often happens! THAT kind of daily monitoring of my interactions I don’t mind… but the Big Brother stuff might be a step too far!
