Reflections 9/2/22: This lost baby blanket has made the rounds in Roo and my meadow. It has been hung from various structures all over our little valley. Although trash and junk quickly get disposed of, NOBODY is willing to toss this dilapidated blanket in the garbage. And for GOOD reason… baby blankets are sacred! ESPECIALLY to the little person who lost it. We ALL recognize and respect that!

Both Braun and Bryn were devoted blanket lovers. So attached to their tattered snuggies that they couldn’t fall asleep without them. Many a frantic search ensued if ”Blankie” was no where to be found. Once Braun’s aqua-colored one went MIA for a few days. Desperate, after every search produced zero results, I resorted to second-hand stores to see if I could replicate it in a semi-used condition to make the switch more convincing. BINGO! The exact blanket! Freshly washed and presented, Braun relaxed and resumed his pleasant countenance. But deception always backfires on you, and my switch was uncovered when the REAL “Blankie” was dug out of a deep crack in the car seats! Probably traumatized poor Braun more than discovering Santa was a ruse.

And don’t get me started on Bryn’s attachment to her “Blankie.” Could qualify as a HIPAA violation of privacy! Suffice it to say it has been stitched and remade so many times that I wonder of ANY of the original fibers are still present!

God, You have become my “Blankie” over the years. Not a Linus one to be outgrown, but one that was woven in that “God-shaped vacuum” of my soul that Pascal so scientifically described. A perfect fit! And unlike this precious little blanket hanging from the park bench, un-lose-able! I am cuddling up close to it right this very moment!
