Reflections 10/4/2020: Love these two! Braun and Sladjana. 6th Anniversary. Celebrating in Minnesota where they live. 13 hours of pavement to cover to be together. I hate the distance! And even more hated that my dream of living in close proximity went up in smoke. Definitely had to give that over to You God. And open my heart to a whole new way of generating closeness. (I realize most parents have to grapple with this reality in an increasingly mobile world… so I/we are not alone, but it still takes a lot of tweaking to accept 😔). Helps that they are very happy, doing well and live in close proximity to Sladjana’s wonderfully supportive family. Also helps that there are sooo many avenues through which to communicate via technology. (Way different than the snail mail I cut my teeth on!) Actually my phone conversations each week might be more intimately connective than those we might have in person if the physical distance wasn’t a factor! Sooo God, help me to be loose of grip on my dream so I can be open to embrace what is… and creatively leverage it into an even better scenario than that dream would have been!
