Reflections 11/4/2020: A friend just sent me this shot of our colorful little family at the neighborhood Halloween gathering. My crayons were wilting, but Ed’s banana definitely wasn’t! Roo’s side of fries had gotten rolled in the dirt so many times I lost count as he wrestled with Eevee, his hot dog counterpart! Encased in a frankfurter, she had sumo wrestler powers to ward him off as Roo tried to consume her! Fun evening despite all that COVID did to “trick and trash” this year’s Halloween celebration! (Take THAT you ugly virus!) I love how our fellow cul-de-sacians enjoy each other despite our wide array of political leanings! The secret? Hmmm… respect for everyone’s right to their own opinion, (opinions born of experiences different from our own). Our “village” approach to keeping our kids happy and safe. Our shared challenges that blood bond us. And just spending fun time together that reminds us that we are WAY more than our differing opinions! As the election results SLOWLY squeeze a winner to the forefront, I hope and it pray that not only our cul-de-sac, but our nation at large will remember these heart bondings, and value them more than destructive head bangings!
