Reflections 7/18/2020: This inquisitive Magpie cracks me up! He/she perches on the edge of the window frame and taps the glass compulsively with her beak for long stretches at a time. (Maybe she is communicating in Morse code!) I THINK she can’t figure out how something that is invisible to her eyes still exists! It is NOT there, but IS still there! How can that be? Are her eyes deceiving her? What the heck is her beak connecting with? So she keeps pecking in fascination! So much like my teenage discovery of You, Lord! Invisible to my eyes but sooo undeniably there! My beak-pecking prayers were connecting with Something real! Someone was tapping back! Invisible but as REAL as any tangible object in my life! But WAY more rewarding! So I’ve kept tapping… compulsively for over 50 years! Amazingly, today’s devotional speaks to that very peculiar invisibility. “I am nearer than you think, richly present in all your moments. You are connected to Me by Love-bonds that nothing can sever. However, you may sometimes feel alone because your union with Me is invisible. Ask Me to open your eyes so that you can find Me everywhere!” So, laugh as I may at my Magpie friend, I get it! Invisibility doesn’t = non-existent!
