Reflections 6/29/2020: WOW am I lucky (hear blessed) to live in Colorado! This is the panoramic view from Cougar Trail, which trailheads almost at the foot of our house! You have to zoom in to appreciate the beauty of the redrocks that form the Dakota Ridge and define the boundaries of our Ken Caryl Valley. A cloister of serenity from our crazy world. Risked a long hike with Bryn and her friend Dana yesterday. Wasn’t sure if it was a good idea, given my chemo fog and the sharp switchbacks, but I survived! A bit dizzy and stiff from my knee replacement noises, but stinkin’ proud of my prowess! We had the trail almost completely to ourselves too… an occasional brave biker, but mostly just us. I did manage to get caught by a random biker right in the middle of dropping my drawers for a bathroom break! What was the chance of that, given our isolation? I had carefully picked my spot, not realizing that as I moved farther away from our trail, I had chosen a bush right smack dap on the edge of an adjoining trail, totally exposed to a biker surprising me with gawking arrival! Dang!!! Is no place sacred? Or far from the maddening crowd? Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself… and realize your best laid plans often come to no good end! And my end was awkwardly denuded!
