Reflections 5/11/2020: Morning runs! This was my life for decades of years! Greeting the new day with soul and soles! So refreshing! So inspiring! So connective with You, God! Now “morning runs” have taken on a whole new meaning. Multiple trips to the porcelain throne! Lower hemisphere purging rejected food. Churning gut that literally keeps me running to the welcoming toilet. Luckily the runs last only about 30 minutes, but those are highly explosive minutes! Got to take them seriously. Not quite as scenic and serene as greeting the sun on my morning run on the beautiful trails of Ken Caryl Valley! I guess I just need to embrace the new meaning of “morning runs” as part and parcel of my present decade… and cancer journey. It’s hard giving up things you love as your body changes gears. But I HAVE found You faithful Lord to fill the void left by my release of the old, to make way for the new. Walks. Bike rides. Slower movement that allows me to discover the tiny “Shooting Star” flower braving the moss on a stream bed! And celebrating its remarkable courage! Sooo, keep me flexible in my definition of “morning runs” so I can embrace whatever my present journey happens to be!
