In boredom and cabin-bound fever yesterday, given the sub-zero temps, I broke out my new watercolor pens. TOTALLY a novice at ANY kind of painting, my first rose (closest to the bottom), lacked a lot…hmmm… drew it without a model, and filled in too much of the light space. My next two efforts relied on a picture of a rose to guide my paint-brush pen… and I left more light space for my imagination to fill in. Much better! Got me thinking about Your artwork in our lives, Lord. You gave us Jesus as a living, breathing model from which to sketch and color our lives. Beats conjuring up a ever-changing kaleidoscopic image that changes form just as we try to nail it down. I also like (well, maybe not like, but now value) the light spaces You leave to accentuate the shadows and nuances of our lives. Space for faith to fill in. Like my artistic efforts, the picture is much more interesting! Even now as I beg You to fill in the blanks of where my cancer is going, the light space of unknowing is creating a beauty that my need to KNOW would compromise. Room for imaginative faith!
