Reflections 2/28/2020: God, THANK YOU for yesterday! I actually felt like a real human being who WANTED to be a part of the mainstream of life! Busted out of hibernation with my new sassy doo (compliments of my hacksaw improvisation to deal with unexpected dreadlocks!) Braved a trip to Stepping Stone’s coffee shop (which always includes a tsunami of love and excitement from my special need friends), and finished off the morning with my favorite pastime… a hunting trip at the thrift store! Does it get any better than that?!! BUT God, I especially thank you for my divine appointment with Miss Katy, at the coffee shop. A special need friend who is blind as well as developmentally disabled. AND, spent the last year battling cancer, chemo, nausea, itching, hot flashes, baldness and clinging to You by her fingertips, Lord. And to our surprise, with the same oncologist and infusion center as I am locked into for the next 6 months! What a wealth of first-hand experience! I was able to pick her brain as to what lies ahead, how to cope with it, and celebrate with her success! Katy was Your instrument of comfort to me! Didn’t make having to endure cancer any less painful, BUT I could sense she was delighted that her journey was able to inform and soften mine! Purpose in the suffering! So, help me take notes on this trek, so I can be a Katy of encouragement to someone else who needs Your comfort in their time of need!
