Reflections 1/20/21: A special friend blessed me with a candle and a shared insight into the secret of keeping the flame of courage alive and well. As she was walking with a taper candle, trying to hurry to get the candles in the house lit for soon-to-arrive guests, she discovered that moving too fast threatened to extinguish the little flame she was carrying. She had to slow her pace down to protect it from too much rush of air. Small steps were better than big steps in accomplishing the task in hand! Thus her words of encouragement to me to take things slow to protect my flame of courage to face the chemo that lies ahead! Such a perfect picture! Thank you my friend! (I was always one of those kids on the school playground who tried to swing past multiple cross slats as I transversed the monkey bars… and ended up ripping blisters on my little hands. A bit too determined in my race to git ‘er done!) So patience Lynette… and compassion for that little flame of hope and courage that God has lit within you! Small steps get you there!
