Reflections 9/11/2020: This seems all too familiar to me, and I finally figured out why. Ed is my “lousy speller!” One of his go-to love languages is giving gifts. So, since I’ve been trapped at home from the pandemic, he has constantly been arriving home with a box from a bakery or donuts from Dunkin’ as a present to bless my heart! Part of me delights in his thoughtfulness (and appeals to my sweet tooth), but the other part of me grimaces at the thought of facing my scale, my dentist, and even my oncologist! (Cancer cells LOVE sugar!) Dang! Much as I hate being stuck on a desert island, the constant flow of desserts will kill me before the isolation does! A lover of sweets, I feel like Ado Annie in “Oklahoma,” singing “I can’t say ‘no’!” So Ed, let’s work on your spelling skills, your grasp of nutrition, and your go-to love languages! I feast on words of affirmation… which both cost less, AND keep me healthier in the long run! (Oh… I do believe there is still another lemon cupcake in the bakery box, calling my name!)
