Talk about a projective test! Depending on my mood, I read this little robin’s antics in very different ways. Hungry and crying out for food? Lonely and wanting his siblings to break out of their shells? Singing for joy that he rules the roost as an only child? Or perhaps just discovering his own powerful voice! Our perceptions are not as straightforward as we’d like them to be. They are colored by many factors we might not even be aware are in operation. So maybe it behooves us to slow our reactions down a bit so we can identify what’s churning deep inside of us that might be puppeteering our knee jerk reflexes. My chemo fogged brain is forcing this upon me. Slow processing of what is going on around me, so more measured responses… definitely not the time to play a game of spoons! Right now my “projection” of what this baby bird is expressing is a yawn as he settles in for still another nap! Thank You God that my bed is infinitely softer than his prickly wooden nest… though I must say his digs are constructed quite well!
