Reflections 9/12/2020: I’m not an official part of the trail maintenance crew in our valley, but wherever I hike, I try to toss obstructive rocks out of the way. Just about the time I feel great about a nice, smooth trail, a storm of some sort hits and erosion takes place, digging up rocks that were hidden before. Where the heck did those come from? Buried beyond my sight… now exposed! Dang!! It is a never ending battle! Reminds me of emotional rocks in our journey through life. Just about the time we get our feelings smoothed down to navigable levels, some disruptive event happens, exposing new obstructions! Anger, jealousy, anxiety, unforgiveness. Buried junk we didn’t know existed! Emotional erosion exposing our heart! Sometimes even big boulders of distrust that You are there, much less care. So trail work must begin again. Trip and toss. I am thankful that You travel that trail with me Jesus! And don’t shame me for that ugly stuff that erosion exposes. Together we clean ‘er up and keep climbing. Only heaven will be a rock free environment!
