Reflections 1/1/20: I find that it really helps to zero in on a word as my theme for a new year. The word “attentive” kept catching my attention! Not sure this is from You, God, but I sure know it is an area You can grow in me to help the people around me feel more loved. Gotta be on Your curriculum for me somewhere! This is a bit of a challenge for me because of my slight attention deficit disorder that has my mind flirting all over the board as I try to focus. My sister even gave me a refrigerator magnet that reads, “ADD? Not me… oh look, there goes a chicken!” As a counselor of 26 years, I was able to achieve this focus in the confines of a very controlled office setting, but turn me loose in the world at large and I am a pinball machine in full tilt!  Add electronic distractions and it is a recipe for complete in-attentiveness! Sooo Jesus, in 2020 I give You permission to grow my love quotient for every person You bring into my sphere, so that my genuine interest and concern for them eclipses my distract-ability! And while we’re at it, let that “attentiveness” define my focus on You as well! And as Your eyes move to and fro around the earth, may the little bleep of my heart, signal to You that I am fully and attentively Yours! (II Chron. 16:9)
