Today’s “Jesus Calling” devotional evoked a funny picture in my quirky mind. “Express Delivery” for our prayers! “Your prayers and petitions are winged into heaven’s throne room when they are permeated with thanksgiving.” Transported me to the window at the US Post Office where, as I present my package to be mailed, they invariably ask me how fast I need it to get to its destination. Am I willing to pay MORE to express mail it for next day delivery? Usually not… but in emergencies? Yes! In God’s Postal Prayer Service, that express mail cost is paid in the currency of a thankful heart! Hmmm… why that? Maybe because “pre-delivery thankfulness” is an honest expression of FAITH that God HEARS, CARES and is CAPABLE of doing something about our request! Trust! THAT captures God’s undivided attention! “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must BELIEVE THAT HE EXISTS and that HE REWARDS those who earnestly seek Him.” (Heb.11:6) So stamp “Express Delivery” on my prayers as they are airlifted into Your throne room on the wings of “permeating thanksgiving!
