Reflections 5/17/2020: Ed has been diligently collecting pieces for the Safeway Monopoly Game. Lots of great opportunities to win big and little prizes just by getting a continuous stretch of tokens on the board. Not only did he gather pieces from his frequent trips to the store, (where the clerks, in typical Ed charm, slipped him big stacks of possibilities), but he recruited all the neighbors who shop at Safeway to collect for him too! I bet he tore open a thousand Monopoly pieces and devoted hours to this endeavor. (Mostly to fill time during this boring quarantine). Not a single win!!! Not even the $5 category! I had to suppress my laughter at his outrage over the injustice! If ANYONE should have been rewarded with a win, it should have been Ed! But that’s life Lord! Sometimes our best efforts result in dead ends. Truth is, we, of all people do not need the bounty of a win in this game. (God, give it to those who do!) So let us look to You for our sustenance, not Safeway’s questionable game! Ed has recovered from his indignity, but finds himself frequenting King Soopers and Walmart for our shopping needs more often!
