Reflections 1/15/21: God, You amaze me in how You provide even weird, quirky things as we need them! Yesterday, while Roo and I were out for our early morning jaunt, I noticed my neighborhood crows being anything but neighborly to a pair of Red-tailed hawks scouting for food. (Mr. Rogers would have been grieved!) They finally gave up trying to hunt by air, given the kamikaze dive bombs from these black bullets! Feeling sorry for them I thought maybe Roo and I could flush out some rodent activity if we sauntered off the trail into the field they were perusing with hopeful eyes. Then it occurred to me that doing so would cause the death of a little critter, and I would be responsible for it. 🧐 So my pup and I stayed on the trail. Just then Roo rummaged through a pile of sticks beside us and emerged with a whole rabbit’s leg, fresh from (probably) an owl’s kill during the night! What’s the chance of that JUST AS I was giving up the thought that I could bless the hawks with some breakfast?! Well, Roo wasn’t as excited as me to relinquish his “find” to our new feathered friends, but, being the alpha of the two of us, I procured the meal and set it out below their scouting perches. I didn’t witness their dive to abscond with the feast (thus, this is not my picture), but it disappeared fast! I would have LOVED to have been privy to their take on what just happened! A reversal of ravens bringing food to Elijah! Thank You God for these fun but finger-printed ways You reveal Yourself in my life!
