Reflections 1/9/21: Roo has become a therapy dog! Not with people, but with other dogs who are fearful and withdrawn! I don’t know if it is his ridiculously innocent face, or a vibe he gives off that he is “safe,” but he is a peacemaker… and a playmaker! Happens regularly on our walks. Roo just assumes a dog is friendly and is as excited to meet him as he is them. The owner is hesitant to let Roo approach, but his puppy antics somehow draw the unfriendly dog in, and before you know it they are gallivanting like besties! (There ARE exceptions, but few and far between!) I’d like to bottle whatever vibes Roo gives off, and spread them like the Corona Virus in our tense and distrusting world. Peacemakers. Playmakers. Reconcilers. Joygivers! Hmmm… when I’m gazing at You, Jesus, I find myself having that effect. BUT take my eyes off of You, and onto myself, and I can become bristly, reactionary and unapproachable! Especially in today’s adversarial environment. Sooo Rooo, teach away! Puppy-ize my heart to build bridges. And Jesus, keep my eyes fixed on You to smooth down my unwanted hackles!
