Reflections 6/3/2020: Yesterday a friend totally blessed me with a paddle board adventure! (Not us, but sure could have been!) Six days out from my last chemo infusion, I was feelin’ my oats, so we capitalized on my reprieve from nausea! At first the water was glass, like smooth mercury, which took me back to my childhood break-of-dawn waterskiing years! Slicing through a reflective mirror as the sun rose to paint the transparent spray from my ski with rainbows! Childhood joy! Later, as the wind arrived, the water surface rippled up in response and sent a tickle up through my feet, that were tenuously balancing on the board! How I love the changing moods of water! So gentle at times, then powerful and uncontrollable… so much like life! But my biggest surprise was how the serenity of the paddle-boarding begged for great conversation! Discovery of so many similarities in our growing up years! How fun to find a kindred spirit! Even just sitting on the boards and dangling our feet in the snow-melted waters was magical! A time-machine of transportation that swept the years (and cancer shock) to a distant place, far, far away! Thank you my hydrating friend! Water therapy! Just what the doctor ordered… or should have!
