Reflections 5/31/2020: Hard to see, but at the top of the Lilac bushes are the only blooms that have survived the deers’ digestive pruning. Beyond the reach of my clippers to cut for aromatic beauty in our house. Actually every time I HAVE snipped a bouquet, they have shriveled up and died almost immediately, with no fragrance, despite my best efforts to keep them alive. Ed and I have been sitting by our pond (with Slim, our fake, white Egret… zoom in on pic), to take in the curtain call of the sunset. I discovered that the lilac blooms are absolutely intoxicating while still attached to their branches! The aroma fills my nostrils and seems to plant kisses all over my face! Who knew? I guess some things were meant to be enjoyed in their natural habitat. My efforts to freeze the frame and force them into MY world destroys their God-given giftedness. Hmmm… now I need to think how this applies to people in my life too! “In vivo” respect and appreciation.
