Reflections 8/18/2020: I’ve been waiting for this shot! The twins (and mom) meander regularly through our yard, indulging an Asian Fusion meal on our Korean Lilac bushes! Usually they galavant off before I can aim my phone at them. Yesterday they became fascinated at Roo’s puppy antics as he yipped a protest at their invasion of his borders! (Obviously didn’t take him too seriously!) I am thankful these two have survived the many street crossings, dog chasings, coyote encounters and just plain life challenges that fawns face in growing up. Made me think of a conversation I had recently with a young adult about religion. He was predicting the demise of Christianity as more and more of his generation walk away from established church. Victims of life’s challenges. Made me sad… and a little scared. But today as I read in Isaiah, that ancient prophet was reacting to a similar departure of the Jewish people from faith in You, their God. That was 2700 years ago and they still exist! And a whole new branch of Messiah-fulfilled believers was born of that remnant! Remnant… that is an interesting word. Means “a remaining scrap or fragment.” Hate to think of myself as a “scrap,” but even small bits of an original whole contain the DNA necessary for reproduction! You have been faithful to keep that DNA thriving over the centuries, so why doubt You now? Perhaps this new generation is still seeking You, they just are doing so in ways less familiar to me. I hope and pray that this is the case. Thank you little fawns for spawning these reflective thoughts!
