Reflections 4/11/2020: The word “arduous” has been sticking in my brain lately. Especially at night as I grimace my way into my pajamas with a belly full of pain. Another “arduous” day behind me. Chock one up for Lynette. Cancer zero! I kinda knew what the word meant, but I looked it up for a more thorough understanding. “Requiring great exertion; laborious; using much energy and vigor; strenuous. Derived from the Latin word meaning a steep climb.” Yep. That’s my life right now. Exhausting uphills. I’m used to short stretches of exertion… even love the challenge of them. But LONG stretches are a whole ‘nother ball game. An iron woman race, not a snappy sprint. Dang! But when the pigeons described the antonyms of arduous as “undemanding, trivial, cheap and soft,” I found myself sidling up to arduous with new resolve! I CAN DO THIS! It isn’t just a physical challenge, but a chance to change the musculature of my character! Now THAT interests me! And even better, it interests You, Lord! WE CAN DO THIS! Tandem! Teamwork! Tag teaming! So thank You that when I have to cry, “Uncle!”, and tap out, You are there to pull me through. Arduous but not alone!
