Reflections 4/23/2020: Well now, my earring collection is begging to have these TP rolls join the ranks! Hopefully they don’t unwind and I’d never have to actually use them, but they are sooo dang cute! What is it about miniature things that fascinate us? For me, I think it is that I immediately picture the size of the human being who would be using this miniaturized item… and have to smile at the pixie-like person who emerges! Probably stems from my early fascination with Disney’s “Darby O’Gill and the Little People” in the late 50’s! How that captured my imagination! I still look for Leprechauns behind every bush! It struck me this morning that my imagination could be what makes God so real to me… an experience of my own making. A moment of doubt slithered in. I chewed on it for a while then began to compile all the evidence to the contrary. My own radically transformed life of a 50 year track record with You, God. Promise after promise You made Jesus, fulfilled. Others’ wrecked and rebuilt lives… built on the foundation of faith in Your real Presence and Power. Centuries of these transformative testimonies! Cross-culturally shared experiences of Your reality. Age and gender substantiation of identical discoveries of intimacy with You! Quite the versatile placebo if it is one! I guess those moments of doubt are kind of pop quizzes You spring on us to help us discover the depth of our own faith. And dig it deeper! So thankYou for my imagination, and if it helps me sense Your a Presence more vividly, more power to it!
