Reflections 11/30/2020: The way this world is evolving, I fear this is the future status of Christianity. Rusty, rundown, and rendered irrelevant! Jesus? “Oh nice guy. A teacher ahead of his time… which is what got him crucified, by the way. But antiqued ideas for us now. We’ve evolved past him.”

And churches? “An interesting socio-religious phenomenon that kept centuries of believers in bondage to rules, rituals and the reigning authorities of their times. We’ve transcended that too! Progress must happen!”

Makes me sad Jesus. I want to find the words to express Who You truly are, and how much Your Presence in my life creates an artesian well of hope, joy… and even the ability to love! Stuff I can’t muster up on my own.

And church? “Ecclesia” just means a gathering of like-minded people who enjoy being together and believe synergistically they can impact their world for good… better together than alone.

So if all the external trappings,  power plays and atrocities of historical Christianity all fall away, I pray, Jesus, that Your original intent will live on! To cleanse our human hearts. Take up residence there. Restore us to a right relationship with You and our Father. And transform the world one heart at a time! Things impervious to “evolutionary progress.”
